About Acclaim Choir

Founded on April 1st 2012

Acclaim was born in April 2012 when a scratch choir was established to support Keith and Kristyn Getty, Stuart Townend in partnership with New Scottish Arts at their Inverness date on their Celtic Islands tour. After that event, the choir decided to continue and their next event was a Christmas 2012 production “The Day Between”, again in partnership with New Scottish Arts, and including a drama written and acted by Jerry and Elizabeth Averill. Held in Culloden Academy Theatre, it was a packed house, with proceeds going to Highland Hospice.

Members of the choir are from across the Highlands, and they have been supported at events by band and orchestral musicians from the Highlands, and also from other parts of Scotland, many of whom are associated with and play regularly with New Scottish Arts.

“The choir” was given the name “Acclaim” in the lead up to “Risen!”, an Easter celebration sponsored and promoted by Alive Ministry, held in Eden Court Theatre in 2013.

Acclaim helps to create bridges across Highland churches and brings Christians from all denominations together. We aim to spread the Gospel, build up the body of Christ, encourage and enable his name to be glorified through worship songs, both traditional and contemporary.
